Heat the pan and dry roast the  coriander seeds, pepper, carom seeds, mustard seeds then add dry red chilly seeds and saute for a min then transfer it to blender. In the same pan now add the dry red chili and dry roast it and add it to the blender containing other dry roasted ingredients. once the spices have cooled down grind them coarsely.

Now the final step of preparation:

In the same pan add oil, once the oil is hot add the garlic and chopped onions and saute for about 2 mins then add turmeric powder,  potato  & salt and saute until the potatoes are semi soft. once the potatoes are semi soft or half cooked add the Grinded spice of about 2 Tbsp and mix it well so that potatoes are covered in spice completely. Now close it with the lid on a medium low flame and mixing it occasionally. once the potatoes are cooked switch off the gas and serve it hot with daal rice or chapati.

Note:  you can store the grinded masala in a container and use it whenever you want.

Yum! Any type of roasted or pan-fried potato meets wild reception at my house, so I will definitely give this one spice aloo a try. The only change i might make is reducing the amount of chili seeds. I love spice, but a couple in my family pant and beg for a cool drink if a dish has the slight trace of it.

    1. Ha ha.. ya you have to reduce because that is actually spicy. Few in my home too don’t eat. But I simply love it. Do try and let me know.
