Meetha Kulcha|Sweet indian Bread

Name this as Meetha kulcha or Dry fruit kulcha. My  kids were super excited the moment they saw it. I am hoping your kids too will really love this. This can also be had just like kulcha one eaten with cholae or matar.

INGREDIENTS

All purpose flour- 2 cup (250 grams)

Oil – 2 tbsp

Instant dry active yeast – 1 tsp (dry active yeast)

Salt – 1/2 tsp or as per taste

Sugar- 2 Tbsp

warm water to prepare dough

Toppings

1.Nutella with colorful rice balls & gems

2. Nutella with cashews or any dry fruit.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   3.Cinnamon with Honey and walnut (grated ) to sprinkle on the top.

 

METHOD

 

If you are using dry active yeast, soak it in 2-3 Tbsp of warm water along with 1/4 Tsp of sugar and mix it properly then leave it for 10 minutes.(If you are using instant dry active yeast skip the above and you can directly add it to all purpose flour along with other ingredients). Meanwhile in a bowl add  all purpose flour, oil, salt and sugar. After 10 minutes you could see bubbles this mean yeast is activated and is ready to be added. Add the yeast mixture to the all purpose flour along with the above ingredients and mix it and then add warm water and knead it into soft dough for 5 minutes until it is smooth. Grease the bowl and dough from all the side then cover it and keep it in a warm place for 3 to 4 hours for proving. I prefer my oven to help dough in proving (Note take a bigger bowl since the dough would double and am sure you would not like dough proofing outside the bowl 😀 ). Once the dough have risen and have doubled again knead and divide the dough into equal size balls  and roll it into round shape. Grease the tray and leave the rolled dough for 30 minutes. Later Preheat oven at 180 degree centigrade and bake the kulcha for 10 minutes on 180 degree centigrade.

After 10 minutes, take out the tray from oven. Kulchas should be golden brown in color from both sides. Kulchas are ready now spread nutella or chocolate sauce along with rice balls of your choice..  and serve them.

Note:

Kulchas can be stored in refrigerator for 3 to 4 days and can be re-heated and served.

Replacement of Oven

Once you have rolled the dough into round shape. Take a tawa ( non-stick pan ) and heat it. Once it is hot lower the flame to low and put the rolled dough onto the pan and cover it with the lid then after 2 to 3 mins have a check and if it is golden brown in color then flip it to the other side and repeat the same step until golden brown in color.
