1 cup whole masoor dal (soaked over night)
1 onion chopped
2 tomatoes chopped
1 /2 tbsp garlic paste
2-3 green chillies chopped
3 -4 tbsp ghee
2-3 tbsp mint leaves chopped
Pinch of hing
1-4 tsp of turmeric powder
1tsp chilli powder ( according to your taste I like spicy)
salt as per taste
Boil the soaked daal overnight . It might need 2 -3 cups of water for boiling.( it might take 3-4 whistles to get daal cooked check it by pressing it) .Then Add ghee in a pan. Once it get heated add hing and then garlic paste saute till it turns golden later add onion and saute it also till it turns golden colour. Now add tomatoes saute it till it get mashed at this point you can add salt so that tomatoes get quickly messed. Once tomatoes are done add green chilli and mint leaves. Saute it for a half minute then add red chilli, turmeric give a stir. when you see ghee floating or separating from the gravy add the boiled daal and give a stir cook it for 2-3 minutes. Daal is ready.
Serve it with onion salad, lemon squeezed over daal along with chapatis , rice , naan and papad.
You also can add 2 tbsp of cream or malai to give a creamy taste . Do try and let me know your comments.
